About Me
I obtained my bachelor’s and master’s degrees at the University of Southern Mississippi
with an emphasis on psychology and community counseling. I obtained my
professional counseling license in 2001. Over my career I became immersed in multiple
areas: substance abuse, trauma, domestic violence, personality disorders, grief,
medical anxiety, and mind/body connections. By navigating these complex issues, I also work with anxiety, depression, phase of life issues, LBGTQ+ and marriage and family situations. I have extensive experience working in a primary care setting, offering integrated behavioral health interventions for navigating chronic medical conditions.
I strive to provide a space of respect and shelter for patients to be open and explore
their journeys. I recognize the courage it takes people to first engage in therapy and to
face the difficult aspects of their lives. To assist in that process, I use a variety of
counseling perspectives, including cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), feedback
informed therapy, positive psychology, and existentialism. I am furthermore a
solution-focused therapist and strive to resolve the essential conflicts by discerning
solutions or options/choices to alleviate distress. I always seek to empower people to
be empowered!
I see individuals, couples, and families.
For individuals I see clients age 16 and older.
